![]() Welcome back to another week of Resources with Rebekah! As you may know, the Lutheran Center is undergoing an exciting renovation which, unfortunately, means we cannot utilize the Kaufman Resource Center (KRC) until we are reopened. In the meantime, I have been working hard on adding new and updated resources so stay tuned for some new titles that will be apart of the KRC collection! This week I am highlighting The Post-Quarantine Church: Six Urgent Challenges and Opportunities that Will Determine the Future of Your Congregation by Thom S. Rainer. It is no doubt that COVID-19 had a huge impact on us all and this book may be a valuable resource to those looking for practical ways to navigate through a post-pandemic world. Rainer dives into topics such as gathering differently and how many churches discovered that the church was still the church even without its facilities; reaching the digital world and the post-pandemic era meaning a future of hybrid services; make lasting changes that make a difference and how this new era requires a new approach to successfully reach people which undoubtedly means leading with a lot of uncertainty. Rainer discusses these challenges and more emphasizing that the post-pandemic, or post-quarantine, era may prove to be one of the most challenging seasons for churches and their leaders however, it is a season of opportunity. If you would like to join the waitlist for this book, or have new book suggestions, shoot me an email at rwissler@neos-elca.org. Also, be sure to check out our brand new Kaufman Resource Center (KRC) website for additional resources and to learn a bit more about what the KRC has to offer!

Advent: A season of reflection. The word Advent comes from the Latin word adventus meaning "arrival.” The weeks long preparation of prayer and reflection for the coming of Jesus. While we prepare for the fourth week of Advent, and dive into Christmas festivities, I ask, how will you find time to rest in the Lord this week? I, personally, like to spend a few minutes a day meditating, reading, or listening to a devotion. Check out Lutheran Hour Ministries for daily Advent Devotions that are perfect for personal reflection or to share with family, friends, and congregations. You can read these devotions online, through the free Lutheran Hour Ministries app, or listen with Spotify, iHeart Radio, Alexa, or Google Home. While you’re visiting their site, be sure to take a gander at all the other awesome resources they offer! This CartoonChurch.com cartoon originally appeared in the Church Times and is taken from ‘The Dave Walker Guide to the Church’, published by Canterbury Press.
