Hey, everyone! I wanted to take the time to re-introduce myself since we have a few new subscribers. I'm Rebekah, and I am the Synod’s Resource Specialist and Archivist. You may wonder “…okay, so what does that mean you do?” I operate the Kaufman Resource Center (KRC) located in the Lutheran Center, which works like a public library. We provide this service not only for our pastors but also for church members, families, and affiliates! I am always available by email and phone to assist those looking for resources of any kind. Additionally, I am the archivist for our Synod; a very fancy way to say I manage the records and historical files. But I also am a consultant for you– if you need help organizing your church’s archives or you don’t know whether you need to keep certain information, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
A little bit more about me… I am originally from Alliance – go Aviators! I graduated from the University of Mount Union in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. I went on to Kent State University and graduated in 2018 with a Master’s in Library and Information Science with a focus in Special Collections and Archives. After finishing my degree, I started working as a Reference Librarian at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. In 2019, I completed a certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University, hoping to become a Board-Certified Genealogist one day - just as a hobby and to challenge myself. I now live in Akron with my husband, Jesse, my 11-year-old stepson, Kyle, my 2-year-old son, DJ, and my just-turned-1-year-old daughter, Phoebe. Shoot me an email at rwissler@neos-elca.org if you have any questions about what I do, how I can help, or if you just want to chat!
